Abstract

PURPOSE: To bend a sheet metal without curving and deforming and improve its working accuracy and appearance by providing a stopper to the tip of a prebending punch and prebending the sheet metal.
CONSTITUTION: The edge part W1a of a sheet metal W1 which has beforehand been slightly bent is pressed by the inclined 1st punch surface 13a by the forward oscillation of a prebending punch 13, and receives pressing force but since a stopper 26 is provided at the tip of the punch 13, the end part W1b of the edge part W1a is prevented from escaping from the punch 13 by slipping on the punch surface 13a. The end part W1b engages with the stopper 26, and the edge part W1a bends to a curved form at the edge W1c and further the 2nd punch 13b acts pressing force upon the edge part W1a, so that the edge part W1a increases the angle of curving further. Then, the punch 13 is replaced with a regular bending punch 3, by the bending whereof the edge part W1a is pressed, and is press-fixed with the edge part W2a of the sheet metal W2, whereby it is sandwiched and fixed.
