Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the sleeve roll possible to considerably easily provide a large crown and to adjust the size of crown, by providing a groove or the like in the outer surface of the arbor fittable to the inner surface of the sleeve, in order to supply the thermal medium to this groove for heating or cooling the sleeve. CONSTITUTION:A circumferential groove 7 vertical to the roll axis is carved in the longitudinal middle of the outer surface of the arbor's drum fittable to the inner surface of the sleeve 2, in the sleeve roll. This groove 7 is connected through each of communicating holes 5, 6 to each of thermal medium pathways 3, 4 bored from both ends of the arbor 1 along its central axis to the central zone of the arbor 1. The thermal medium is introduced into one pathway 3 and is supplied to the groove 7 through the communicating hole 5 in order to heat or cool the middle zone of the sleeve 2. This thermal medium is thereafter discharged from another pathway 4 through the hole 6. This thermal medium effects the heating or cooling for the sleeve roll which is thereby provided with a convex crown (a) or a concave crown (b).
