Abstract
PURPOSE:To completely prevent a leak of X-rays from the side of a panel, by mounting a reinforcing metallic bond to the side of the panel through an intermediate member with large X-ray absorption coefficient. CONSTITUTION:A cathode-ray tube main body 1 comprises a funnel 2 and a panel 4 welded to an upper part of said funnel by a bonding agent 3. An intermediate member 5 is mounted to the side of the panel 4 such a manner as to cover enough adhesive portions of the panel 4 and the funnel 2, and from the above of the intermediate member 5 a tightening is performed by a rein-forcing metallic band 6 consisting of iron, stainless or the like. The above described intermediate member consists of a soft metal plate, with X-ray absorption coefficient equal to or larger than iron and softer quality than iron, or a metal rubber sheet, containing lead or the like, to provide an action for both preventing a leak of X-rays from the side of the panel and completely filling a gap between the reinforcing metallic band 6 and the panel 4, ths strength of reinforcement can be further improved.
