Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the concentration of each ion of nitrate and nitrite at the same time, by continuously making flow an aqueous solution of organic solvent in the separation column filled up hydrogen type strong acidic cation exchange resin at a constant amount of flowing and injecting an aqueous sample in said column. CONSTITUTION:5% Aqueous solution of methanol flows continuously in the separation column made of glass, having 50cm length and 9mm. diameter filled up a hydrogen type strong acidic cation exchange resin having about 18mum grain diameter and 8% degree of bridge formation at 1ml/min amount of flowing by a constant flow amount pump and then, 0.5ml aqueous sample is injected to the upper part of said column by using a loop injector. Then, the outflow liquid is introduced to the conductivity detector provided in series and ultraviolet rays spectrophotometer set in 210nm and then, the conductivity and absorbance are automatically recorded. Hereby, the quantity of nitrate ion and nitrite ion existing in the aqueous solution which is contained cation and anion of every kind, can be selectively measured automatically at the same time.
