Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress a fluctuation of the floating degree of a head that is caused by a resonance phenomenon and thus ensure a steady recording and reproduction, by sticking a damper member at the part including the position where the amplitude becomes maximum during a resonance and in the mode of the beam of a gimbal.
CONSTITUTION: A head supporting device is formed by fixing the head slider 3 at the tip of the gimbal 2 with its base end fixed to the head arm 1. In such supporting device, a damper member 4 made of the silicone resin, rubber and the like is stuck at an appropriate area of the gimbal 2. Thus the member 4 is provided at the part including the position where the gimbal 2 has the maximum amplitude when it has a resonance in the mode of its beam. As a result, a good damping effect is obtained.
