Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize a small-size and light-weight rotary transformer, by securing such constitution in that only a selectd head performs a recording and reproducing actions among plural units of recording and reproducing heads in a rotary head rotor. CONSTITUTION:The signal applied to the recording signal input line 44 is detected by the envelope curve comparator 20b having the same structure as the comparator 20a. The record amplifier 6 is actuated via the gate line 34, and the recording signal current is flowed to an optional one of the recording heads that are already selected to perform a recording of the information onto the magnetic tape medium 27. This information is reproduced immediately by the reproducing head provided right after the recording head and then amplified by the reproduction amplifier 5 to be sent out via the rotary transformers 18 and 21 plus the reproduced signal output line 45. In such constitution, only a selected one of the four recording and reproducing heads perform the recording and reproducing actions in a rotary head rotor. As a result, the number of winding pairs of the rotary transformer is enough with just a unit each, thus realizing a small-size and light-weight rotary transformer.
