Abstract
PURPOSE: To activate only a desired surface and facilitate chemical plating by a method wherein a brush or the like wetted with a catalyst liquid is contacted with the required surface, when applying a catalyst for chemial plating to one side of an insulator plate.
CONSTITUTION: The catalyst liquid is contacted with the one side of the insulator plate by the brush or a roller. An aqueous solution of, for instance, PdCl2, SnCl2, etc. is used as the catalyst liquid. The brush may be an ordinary one, while the roller may preferably be one which is slightly deformed when contacted with the insulator plate, e.g. one which has a rubber or polyurethane surface layer. When the catalyst liquid is applied to holes provided in the plate, the catalyst need not be applied specially to the inside of the holes, because the catalyst can be applied to the inside of the holes by capillary action when it is simply applied to the one side of the plate. Accordingly, the chemical plating can be performed without need to use a mask on the surface where no circuits are formed.
