Abstract

PURPOSE: To uniformly distribute high melting metals in Ag-Cu alloy to enhance its antisticking property by applying thermal and mechanical processes to a mixture of high melting metals consisting of Ag and Cu as well as Fe, Ni, Cr, and Co.
CONSTITUTION: Ag and Cu powders (0.1W80wt%) are mixed with one or more of Fe, Ni, Cr, and Co powder (2W20wt%) and the mixture is melted and injected to form a compound powder in which Fe, Ni, Cr, and Co exist as solid solution in Ag-Cu alloy. This is then compressed and sintered, precipitating Fe, Ni, Cr, and Co. Finally, a plastic deformation process is applied to form a structure in which Fe, Ni, Cr, and Co and finely are uniformly distributed. In this manner, the process provides a composite electric contact material excellent in antisticking property, forming little oxide film on contact surface, enabling to open and close with a stable contact resistance. The material, therefore, is particularly useful in applying in intermediate current zone.
