Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve coatability and adhesiveness of a molded article by forming small lumps of a silicon compd., by a method wherein a mixed gas of an alkylsilane and nitrogen is subjected to a plasma polymn. on the surface of the molded article.
CONSTITUTION: A mixed gas of an alkylsilane of the formula (wherein R1 is hydrocarbon group; R2, R3, R4 are each H, hydrocarbon group) such as tetramethylsilane and nitrogen in a ratio of 1:0.8W1:10 is subjected to a plasma polymn. on the surface of a film, a sheet or a fiber composed of an org. polymer such as a polyester, a polyamide or a polyolefin or glass, in order to firmly form small lumps (which are approximately a circle having a diameter of 0.05W0.5μ and composed of a silicon compd. contg. silicon, carbon, oxygen and nitrogen) on the surface of the molded article, whereby coatability and adhesiveness as well as slip characteristics are improved. For example, a polyethylene terephthalate film is useful as a magnetic film or a photographic base material.
