Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption of a mobile station, by providing a start signal before the control signal for control channels separately provided in addition to the communication channel. CONSTITUTION:A signal (a) is the signal for the control channel broadcast from the base station and it has a control information 15 and start signal 16 added immediately before the control information. A start signal 16 has, e.g., two patterns A and B; A corresponds to automobile station and B to portable mobile station. The on/off operation of a receiver is controlled so that each mobile station can normally receive the start signal 16 only. That is, a portable mobile station operates the receiver only when the start signal is pattern B and it is not operated in other cases, allowing to reduce power consumption.
