Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable precise and continuous measurement of the distribution of particle size by whirling a sample and air together inside the classifying chamber of a classifier, separating thereby the sample into rough powder and fine powder, and finding the distribution of particle size in the ratio of the quantity of powdered sample to the quantity of rough powder or fine powder thereof. CONSTITUTION:The sample collected from a powdered body transferring pipe 1 through a powder collecting pipe 2 is separated from air by a cyclone 3 and sent to the classifier 6. The classifying chamber 24 of the classifier 6 is divided by disc-shaped rotary wheels 28 and 29 and many adjusting valves 39 which are provided at equal intervals, an airing port 30 discharging fine powder is provided in the center, while a rough-powder discharging port 34 is provided at the outer- peripheral part, and air is blown in through apertures between the adjusting valves 39, whereby whirling current is caused. Accordingly, a classifying point is shifted by adjusting the direction of the adjusting valves, while, by fixing the adjusting valves 39, the classifying point turns stationary even when the distribution of the particle size of the sample varies. And, the quantity of powdered body and the quantity of rough powder are weighed respectively, electric signals F and R thereof are inputted in a controller 9 and thus the distribution R/F of the particle size is operated and delivered precisely and continuously.
