Abstract

PURPOSE:To save the quantity of steam used for heating by reducing exhaust steam by adjustment of the discharge area of a drain valve at the stage of one-side heating operation of a foamed thermoplastic resin molding machine and thereby restricting the discharge quantity of the exhaust steam. CONSTITUTION:The one-side heating operation is started under the condition that a cavity-side steam valve 10 is opened and a core-side steam valve is closed on the side of steam supply and that a cavity-side drain valve 12 is closed, a core-side drain valve 13 is opened and a small drain valve 19 is opened on the side of the drain valves. After air inside a cavity-side steam chamber, foamed polystyrene 5 and a core-side steam chamber is replaced by steam and initial drain discharge is ended, the core-side drain valve 13 is closed and one-side heating operation is conducted under the condition that the small drain valve 19 is opened, and the one-side heating operation is completed at the point of time when a set value of a cavity- side pressure switch is reached. In the above operation, the duration of time when the core-side drain valve is opened is preferably 2-5sec, and then, after the drain valve is closed, one-side heating is conducted with the small drain valve being employed as it is opened.
