Abstract

PURPOSE:To make prepressure loadable by a nut by making the vertical section of a spiral groove of a nut and a ball screw shaft a wide U-shape and fitting a ball retainer therein so that both sides of the above spiral groove become ball rolling grooves. CONSTITUTION:A spiral groove 21 having a U-shaped section is formed between female screws 25 formed in the inner periphery of a nut 10. In the outer periphery of a ball screw shaft 30, there are spirally formed male screws 31 of a pitch the same as the female screw 25 of the nut 10. In a retainer 40, there is formed a projection 41 having a substantially truncated triangular section and a recession 42 having a substantially trapezoidal shape at a pitch the same as that of the female screw 25 of the nut 10. Further, an inclined wall 43 is formed between the projection 41 and recession 42. In the inclined wall 43, there are formed thin and long windows 44 and 45 at left and right sides thereof in a ragne where the ball 22 does not slip off.
