Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a converter with small size, high efficiency and high performance, by using a cut-off type waveguide for a waveguide type frequency converter, arranging a frequency conversion circuit element consisting of a strip line in the waveguide and introducing the high frequency signal with a dielectric substance resonator closely coupled in the cut-off region. CONSTITUTION:At almost the center of a waveguide 1 constituting the cut-off region to microwaves to be converted, a thin metallic plate 2 of square type being almost equal to one wavelength of high frequency signal is inserted, one side of the metallic plate 2 is connected to the tube wall of a waveguide 1, another side is opposed to the tube wall almost in parallel, to form ridge air gaps 3 and 14. Further, a diode 4 as a frequency conversion nonlinear element is located at the coupling section between the air gaps 3 and 14, and one end is connected to the tube wall of the waveguide 1 and grounded. Further, at the center of the metallic plate 2, a dielectric substance board 5 is coated to form a strip line 6 on the board 5. Further, a local oscillation signal introduced via a 1/4 wavelength coupling circuit 9 is sequentially coupled with dielectric resonators 11, 12, allowing electromagnetic coupling with the metallic plate 2.
