Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic tape which is small in coefft. of friction, is less in its increase with time and hardly causes tape squealing by coating a magnetic paint contg. triester of saturated fatty acid of anhydrosorbitol and a hardener on a tape substrate.
CONSTITUTION: Triester of saturated fatty acid of anhydrosorbitol is added as a component for improving the dispersibility of magnetic powder, and also as lubricant to a magnetic paint using a polyurethane prepolymer and a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer as a binder. A hardener of polyisocyanate base etc. is also contained therein. Then, even if this is coated on a substrate a long time later after the preparation of the magnetic paint, the magnetic layer exhibits the same performance as that right after the preparation of the paint and does not cause uneven coating etc. A magnetic tape which does not cause sticking of the magnetic layer on a magnetic head owing to its roughening and tape squealing owing to charging- slipping phenomena despite repeated uses is obtained.
