Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the brazing strength of metal plate in the production of the die for molding the ceramic honeycomb body for purifying the motor vehicle exhaust gas, by fitting the concave sections of a metal plate into the nonworked sections of a block body and brazing them. CONSTITUTION:Honeycomb through-grooves 5 are formed in the plane section of a metal block body 4a by machining. Then, in a metal plate 4b prepared separately from said block body 4a, concave sections 41b are formed each having a shape corresponding to the plane section of each nonworked section 41a formed between the through-grooves 5 in said block body 4. With said concave sections 41b fitted with the nonworked sections 41a, the metal plate 4b and the block body 4a are brazed, and honeycomb molding grooves 1 to communicate with the through- grooves 5 are formed in said metal plate 4b by machining. The honeycomb molding die thus produced can have high brazing strength.
