Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent fumed toner from sticking to a CdS photodetection surface and light guide, by providing a passage shielding member near a guide passage exit for a removed developer. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic developer is cleaned by cleaning blade 2 and collected by magnet roll 3. The developer move into a slit-shaped constrained magnetic field provided by magnet roll 4 and magnet roll 3 and is scraped off by scraper 5; and it is pushed into a carriage passage, moved up by the following developer, and pushed out from shielding film 10, so that the developer will be deposited in collection container 7. Shielding film 10 is fixed at the upper part of the carriage passage and made rotatable. For the shielding film, a substance which never reacts with the toner is used.
