Abstract

PURPOSE:To hold developer concentration constant by detecting and storing the developer concentration when a flow of a developer gets stable in case that a developing device operates intermittently on every copy, and by supplying toner while the developer flows. CONSTITUTION:In developing device 1, a flow of developer 2 is drawn in the start of copying operation and roller 4 starts rotation and, when the developing process in the last copy cycle is completed, stops the rotation. When the said operations are repeated for every sheet, a developer-concentration detection signal is sampled and stored at the point in time of the stabilization of the detection signal, e.g. right before the flow of the developer is stopped; when the memory contents show low developer concentration, the supply of toner is started in the next copy cycle. In continuous copying, a sample signal is generated at proper timing and the contents of a memory device are updated.
