Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the fixability and offset preventing properties of a microencapsulated toner by forming the core substance with a pressure fixing substance in combination with a soln. of a high molecular substance in an org. solvent which does not dissolve the core substance. CONSTITUTION:A pressure fixing substance such as wax compound or ethyleneacrylic or ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer is mixed with a soln. of a known coating resin such as cyclized rubber or acrylic-vinyl acetate copolymer in toluene. The resulting core material slurry is emulsified and dispersed in a warm aqueous soln. of gelatin. To the dispersion is added an aqueous soln. of gum arabic, and complex coacervation is caused by a pH adjusting method. Curing with formalin, washing, drying and classification are then carried out, and the product is mixed with colloidal silica to obtain a toner. Magnetic powder may be added to the toner core.
