Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a waveguide having a stable sectional shape by a method in which a laminated tape composed of a metal tape and a resin layer is molded into an oval cylinder and then a protective layer is formed on the oval cylinder by extrusion and cooled, when a tapered column with an outer circumference similar to and slightly larger than the inner circumference of the said cylinder is positioned inside the said cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: A laminated film 2, obtained by coating a thermoplastic resin on one side of a conductive tape made of a metal tape, is overlapped at its both ends in such a way as to turn the resin layer outside in order to form a cylinder 5 which is in turn molded into a cylinder 8 with an oval sectional shape by a molding machine 7. Then, a protective film 91 is formed on the cylinder 8 by en extruder 9 and then cooled to obtain a waveguide 10. At the time of cooling, a tapered oval column E with an outer circumference similar to and slightly larger than the inner circumference of the waveguide 10 is positioned inside the cylinder 8 and then the waveguide is drawn out. Thus, an oval waveguide having a high dimensional accuracy can be obtained.
