Abstract

PURPOSE: To avoid generation of slime in a chelating resin tower, by controlling a temperature in the tower within an appropriate range.
CONSTITUTION: The temperature of an atmosphere or liquid in a chelating resin tower is kept at 55W65°C to avoid generations of slime. For instance, there is no generation of slime at a temperature of a resin layer of 60°C, even when an untreated water is at pH6. Within such a temperature range which is sufficient lower than a critical point of a conventional chelating resin being resistant to heat, there is no fear of thermal damage of the resin. On the contrary, the resin shows a better ability to absorb heavy metals owing to the elevated temperature.
