Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate the exchange and the handling by a method wherein a support post is provided in a cooling tube having a tubular discharge lamp of the light irradiation apparatus enclosed therein and an optical filter encircling a light emitting part of said discharge lamp is attached to said support post to eliminate the shaking of said filter. CONSTITUTION:In a cooling passage 5 formed between the cooling tube 4 and the tubular discharge lamp 1 of a photochemical reaction apparatus, a pair of support posts 8 parallel to both sides of the discharge lamp 1 are provided and the glass optical filter 9 encircling the light emitting part 2 is provided to said support post 8. In the cooling passage 5 of said light irradiation apparatus, the turblence of a cooling medium is generated but, because the optical filter 9 is fixed to the support post 8, the filter 9 is not shaken. Therefore, the breakage of the filter and the discharge lamp is reduced and the exchange and the handling are made easy.
