Abstract

PURPOSE: To heighten the efficiency of heating in a cleaner comprising a carbon particle collector means and a heating means for cleaning up carbon particles by burning them, by keeping exhaust gas from flowing to the coolector means at the time of heating by the heating means.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust gas containing carbon particles is conducted from an engine into the body 1 of a cleaner through an exhaust manifold. After the carbon particles are collected by a fillter member 2, the exhaust gas is discharged rearward. The pressure difference between the front and rear of the filter member 2 increases as the quantity of the carbon particles collected by the member 2 augments. When the pressure difference reaches a predetermined level, a solenoid valve 16, a glow plug 11, a fuel pump 7, an air pump 10 and solenoid valves 6, 9 are supplied with electric power by a control circuit 14 in accordance with the output of a pressure difference detector 13. As a result, the exhaust gas is discharged through a bypass 15, and a flame is produced by a burner 5 to burn up the carbon particles in the filter member 2.
