USE: Herbicide harmless to paddy rice plant and effective to noxious weeds such as barnyard grass, bulrush, arrowhead, etc. The compound is characterized by the presence of the trifluoromethoxybenzoyl group at the 4-position.
PROCESS: For example, the compound of formula I is prepared by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III (Hal is halogen), and then reacting the resulting compound of formula IV with a compound of formula Hal.Z.
