Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate pipe welding in a narrow space by moving an automatic welding equipment to a prescribed position by a manipulator under the control of a controller, and then by performing control welding while monitoring it by a monitoring device.
CONSTITUTION: After existing tube 1-n and newly provided tube 2-n are made to butt against each other at their edges, manipulator 4 is positioned under the edges by truck 4-A and motors 4-3 and 4-6 are brought under the remote control of controller 5 to insert welding equipment 3 into a place to be welded. Clamping mechanism 3-1 clamps existing tube 1-n. While edge 45 is monitored with monitoring device 6, the position of a torch is adjusted by mechanism 3-2 for adjusting the position of the torch in the direction of an axis and mechanism 3-3 for adjusting the radius-directional position of piping.
