Abstract

PURPOSE: To adjust the moisture of grains and fine particles such as molding sand continuously and accurately by measuring the moisture content and temp. of grains and fine particles as well as their mixture and controlling the additive amount of insufficient moisture with respect to a target moisture content.
CONSTITUTION: Grains and fine particles such as molding sand in a storage tank 1 are supplied continuously at a fixed rate into a sand mill 3. After a fixed time since charging of a required amount of molding sand, the temp. and moisture content of the molding sand prior to mixing flowing on a belt conveyor 2 and the temp. and moisture content of the molding sand after mixing the sand mill 3 are measured with respective thermometers 11, 13, and moisture meters 12, 14, and these are inputted to a microcomputer 15. The computer 15 converts the input signals from these to numerical values and obtains the additive amount of moisture required for controlling the moisture to a target moisture contet. According to this additive amount of required moisture, the computer 15 controls the revolution of a motor 6 which drives a water supply pump 5. Thereby, the accuracy of moisture controlling is improved to about ≤±0.1%.
