Abstract
PURPOSE:To make possible continuous flow of opration without semifinished products being stuck by heating a rotary auger for perforation at temperature for melting a foam and piercing a hole in a hot foam right after manufacture. CONSTITUTION:During the hot state without cooling of synthetic resin foam mainly based on polyethylene, poly PVC and their copolymer which can be softened and molten by heating right after manufacture, a rotary auger for perforation is heated at foam melting temperature and perforation is carried out, so that continuous flow of operation is enabled. The auger used here is a round bar of 6mm. in diameter with a cone-shaped nose 1, and a tapered center 2 measuring 5mm. and further with one mm.-deep ''V'' letter-shaped groove 3, 3' running provided at two spots from the nose to the center on the surface in parallel with an axial direction. Under this constitution, the hole surface presents the same condition as if it were pierced in a foam. Because of a thin center, scraps can easily be discharged and a 6mm.-hole having no difference between the inlet of an auger and the diameter of a hole diameter can be opened.
