Abstract

PURPOSE: To avoid thermal off-track due to temperature difference between write-in and readout, by satisfying the specific relation between the coefficient of linear expansion of the data head arm and that of the servo head arm.
CONSTITUTION: If there is temperature difference of ΔT°C between the temperature in the head disc assembly 3 when information is written in the data disc 14 and that in the said assembly 3 when the information is read out, the thermal off-track amount d due to this is expressed by equation (1). The head arms 16, 17 are formed with the combination of materials so that the linear expansion coefficient α4 of the servo head arm 17 is expressed by equation (2) to the linear expansion coefficient α1 of the data head arm 16. Thus, the thermal off-track amount d is always zero regardless of the temperature difference between write-in and readout in the head disc assembly 3.
