Abstract
PURPOSE:To avoid the influence of distorsion of a pulse by using a white light source modulated by repeated waves such as sine waves and by measuring the dispersion of wavelength by the use of interference of the sine waves. CONSTITUTION:A white light source signal modulator 102 is modulated intensively by a generator 101 of a sine wave of frequency (f) and a light modulated intensively is made to fall on a fiber 103 to be measured having the length L. Then, when signalling lights of required wavelengths lambda1 and lambda2 are extracted by a spectroscope 104, the dispersion of the wavelength can be performed in an optional band of wavelength. The required wavelengths lambda1 and lambda2 are extracted by the spectroscope 104, the envelope of the light of respective wavelength is detected by light-electric signal transducers 105 and 106 to reproduce since waves, the respective sine waves are added by a synthesizer 107 and the level thereof is read by a level meter 108. When the frequency is selected and amplified with the frequency (f) frequency (f) with the sine-wave generator 101 after light-electric transducing at this time, the signal-to-noise ratio of a received signal can be improved.
