PURPOSE:To prepare the titled composition storable for a long period and effective to prevent the formation of sordes on tooth, by compounding a composition containing dextranase as an effective component for the prevention of dental caries with specific amounts of propylene glycol and sorbitol, thereby stabilizing the dextranase. CONSTITUTION:A dextranase-containing composition for oral cavity use is compounded with propylene glycol and 6-60wt%, based on the propylene glycol, of sorbitol. The amount of propylene glycol in the composition is pref. 1-5wt%, and that of the dextranase is usually 100-100,000 units, esp. 1,000-50,000 units per 1g of the composition. In case of a dentrifice, one or more abrasives selected from aluminum hydroxide, silicic anhydride, calcium sulfate, synthetic resin, etc. are compounded to the composition. Its amount is usually 10-90wt%, and in case of tooth paste, 20-60wt%, of the whole composition.
