PURPOSE:To perform still picture reproduction without any noise bar by stopping a magnetic tape so that a magnetic hesd scans a track recorded by one head at the scan starting side and by the other head at the scan ending side. CONSTITUTION:With switch 29 placed at contact (a) of the still-picture side, RSFF26 is reset and its output Q' is held at the high level to open gate 28. Next, capstan motor driver Z is applied with motor driving voltage E2 via gate 28 and a tape is fed at a certain constant speed. When two sampling points are held at an equal envelope potential, level comparing circuit 24 outputs the high level. Then, the output of AND gate 25 is held at the high level and FF26 is set. Next, gate 28 is closed and driver Z is applied with the voltage to stop the tape. In addition, the output of AND gate 27 is held at the high level and bimorph plates X and Y are applied with triangular wave signals, reproducing a noise-free still picture.
