Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent mixing of a resin and an adhesive material and obtain reinforcement of high reliability to the reinforcing part by providing holes intersecting orthogonally with the grooves of a reinforcing member in said grooves. CONSTITUTION:Holes 9 for preventing a resin 5 and an adhesive material 6 from mixing by isolating these are provided in the fixing groove 8 of the reinforcing layer 3 of a reinforcing material 7. When the connection by melt-sticking of optical fibers is completed, the resin 5 is filled in the strand fixing groove 10 of the member 7. Next, the fiber connected by melt-sticking is put into the member 7. In this case, it is so inserted that the strand 1 part enters the groove 10 and the reinforcing layer 3 part in the groove 8 respectively. Next, the cover 11 of the member 7 is folded to cover the grooves 8, 10. After this, the adhesive material 6 is injected into the clearance between the groove 8 and the reinforcing layer 3 from both ends of the member 7 to join the reinforcing layer 3 and the member 7. At this time, the cover 11 is also joined and fixed together to the substrate 12. This reinforcing method obviates the mixing of the resin and the adhesive material by the presence of the holes 9 for prevention of mixing and results in enhanced reliability in terms of the transmission characteritics of the fibers.
