PURPOSE:To improve responsiveness by detecting paper clogging and paper remaining with the same mechanism using one jam detecting switch. CONSTITUTION:During standing-by, a solenoid 12 is driven to turn and displace an arm 7 against the energizing force of tension spring 8 as shown in the figure, so that the other end part 11c as a detecting part of a wire actuator 11 is pushed down to a paper transfer path 1, and is brought to the remaining paper detecting position. If at this time the paper P is left in the path 1, the actuator 11 assumes the state that it is held pushed up by the paper P like the solid line, then a jam detecting switch 10 turns off, thereby detecting the remaining paper.
