Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the fluctuations in copying density, and facilitate setting and change-over operation of copying density by changing over the supplying voltage to an exposure lamp stepwise, and correcting the change in the characteristics of a photoreceptor through automatic biasing. CONSTITUTION:An exposure lamp 3 is connected via a bidirectional SCR2 to a commercial AC power source 1, and an artificial load circuit 4 is connected thereto. The circuit 4 applies the voltage corresponding to the applied voltage to the lamp 3 to the artificial load and the output voltage is supplied to a differential amplifier 6 via a waveform shaping circuit 5. On the other hand, for example, 3 kinds of reference voltages are generated 7 according to the button operations of an operating part 8 and are applied to the amplifier 6. The amplifier 6 applies the voltage corresponding to the difference between both inputs to a trigger pulse generating circuit 9, by which the genreration phase of pulses is controlled. This changes the conduction angle of the SCR2 and changes the quantity of light of the lamp 3. The bias voltage upon the magnet roller 52 in a developing device 51 for a drum 55 changes according to the surface potential VB of the drum 55.
