Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible the welding of superior workability and high quality by shielding the arc by a gas flow curtain of an inert gas thereby inhibiting the disturbing effect of the outside atmosphere on the arc.
CONSTITUTION: This is constituted by a working stand 7, a pair of carriers 8 moving on the side frames of said stand, robot hands 9 supported by the carriers, torches 10 supported by these and other attachment devices. When working data are fed into an operation panel 26, working values such as the moving speed of the carriers, the feed speeds of wires 19, the output values of electric power sources 23, and gas feed flow rates from cylinders 25 are outputted to the respective parts, thence the automatic welding starts. The inert gas continuously fed into the holes in the torches forms the cone-shaped gas flow curtain enclosing the arc in the air blow-out regions from the torches. These prevent the arc from being disturbed by the outside atmosphere.
