Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease operating stroke without hindering the putting in and out of a workpiece and reduce working time by providing a space block freely withdrawably between a ram and a male die. CONSTITUTION:In operating, a space block 13 is withdrawn onto a slide guide base 16 by operating a cylinder 15. Thence, a cylinder 17 is operated to contract a piston rod 17a, whereby a male die 3 is lifted upward. This forms a space sufficient for insertion of a workpiece between the male die 3 and a die 1. Thereupon, the workpiece is inserted onto the die 1, after which the cylinder 17 is operated to extend the piston rod 17a, then the male die 3 descends down to a suitable position. Next, the cylinder 15 is operated to insert the block 13 onto the male die 3, after which a ram 6 is driven by a motor 7, whereby required work is accomplished. Upon ending of the work, the block 15 is moved onto the base 16, the male die 3 is lifted and the work piece is taken out.
