Abstract
PURPOSE:To stabilize the rolling work, and to reduce the amount of the crop cut, by specifically changing the draft percentages for the web and the flange in every rolling pass when the ratio between the flange thickness and the sheet breadth exceeds the specified value, in case of manufacturing the titled steel billet from the flat steel material by the universal mill. CONSTITUTION:When the rough shaped steel billet 2 for the shape steel, for example the H-beam of the flange breadth BF larger than the thickness HO, is to be manufactured from the flat steel material 1 of thickness HO, the flange thickness tFO becomes larger than the material thickness, HO. Therefore, the generation of the square crop 5 is inevitable. Hereupon, the flange thickness and breadth during the forming process are respectively taken as tf and H, and the draft percentage for the flange is made smaller than that for the web until the ratio between the flange thickness and the sheet breadth tf/H becomes 1.0, and this draft percentage difference is made larger as the stage of the pass is earlier. When said ratio tf/H becomes 1.0, the web crop is advanced so as to be a convex style as shown by the figure D(a) for minimizing the amount of the square flange crop. In the following latter half passes, above stated relation between two draft percentages is reversed; however, the web crop is formerly shaped convex as shown by the figure D(b), the generation of defective biting is avoided.
