Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a fire retardant optical fiber, by providing a liquid material which is changed into a material having a heat insulating function by heat between the optical fiber and a pipe-shaped protective coat that protects the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:A spare coat 2 is applied when necessary on the outer circumference of the main body 1 of optical fiber. The coat 2 is then put into the pipe-shaped coat 4 made of a fire retardant material. After this, a liquid material 3, which is carbonized and carbonized with foaming by the heat to produce a number of micro pores and then prevents the burning of the main body 1 of optical fiber by an insulating effect of air and heat, is filled among the optical fiber 1, the coat 2 and the coat 4 each.
