Abstract

PURPOSE: A fomentation, capable of retaining and sticking to an affected part in use stably without change with time, and prepared by forming a specific structure of five layers from a plaster layer based on a crosslinkable hydrous gel as a base, a sheet, a pressure sensitive adhesive, a porous material, and a peelable piece.
CONSTITUTION: A pressure sensitive adhesive layer 2 is formed on one side of a soft sheet or film 1, and a porous material 3 consisting of a fibrous cloth or sponge of such a size as to expose peripheries 2A and 2B is applied to the adhesive layer 2. A plaster layer 4 based on a crosslinkable hydrous gel is applied to the porous material 3 of such a size as to expose peripheries 3A and 3B, and the plaster layer 4 is bonded to the adhesive layer 2 and the porous material 3 temporarily by a peelable piece 5 to give a fomentation. The hydrous gel consists of polyacrylic acid, a salt thereof, water, a compound having two epoxy groups in the molecule and a polyhydric alcohol. The resultant fomentation is capable of retaining the action thereof for a long time.
