Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase reliability of the device by employing a light as a medium for detecting the torsional vibration of a shaft and thereby preventing the device from electromagnetic disturbance. CONSTITUTION:Discs 6a and 6b having projected parts with equal pitches on the circumference thereof are fitted to the exciter 1 of a turbine generator and the rotor 4 of a high-pressure turbine through the intermediary of shafts 7a and 7b, respectively, and optical fibers 8, 9 and 10 are arranged in such a manner that they hold the discs 6a and 6b between them. A photosignal is supplied from a light source device 12 through the intermediary of the optical fiber 8 and the photosignal outputted thereby through the intermediary of the optical fiber 10 is processed by the vibration detecting device 11 for a unit time wherein the time required for rotation of the discs 6a and 6b at one pitch of the projected part thereof is determined to be one cycle, and thereby a tortional angle in every one pitch is detected.
