Abstract

This invention concerns a method and an apparatus for monitoring of vibrational phenomena in the wings 2 of a windmill 1 and to protect against damaging consequences thereof by intervening in the phenomenon, wherein the amplitude of a vibration signal, which is dependent on the vibration of the wings, is detected in the machine housing 8 of the windmill 1 by applying a vibration sensor 9 as far away from the rotor 2 of the windmill as possible and with the sensing axis of the sensors 9 oriented in the plane which gives the greatest transmissivity in the particular combination of machine and wing type for the edgewise vibrational frequency of the wings 2, the vibration signal is compared with a previously determined limit value, and the speed of revolution of the rotor 2 of the windmill is acted upon when the limit value is exceeded. <IMAGE>
