Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the stroke and the driving force of a bimetal valve in which a valve body is connected to the central part of a bimetal assembly, by using bimetals shaped substantially in a starlike form and having a plurality of radially extended, corrugated arms.
CONSTITUTION: An assembly of bimetals 20 is disposed between the lower end of a control rod 14 and a snap ring 17. Each of the bimetals 20, shaped in a starlike form, is formed at its central part with a hole 21 through which a valve shaft 13 is to be extended and has a plurality of radially extended, corrugated arms 23. The assembly of the bimetals 20 is constituted by connecting a plurality of pairs of bimetals 20 which are coupled together in the manner that their surfaces having a lower coefficient of expansion face each other. When a high-temperature fluid comes into a valve chamber 4, a coil spring 19 is compressed through bending of bimetals 20 and a valve body 12 comes into engagement with its valve seat and closes a valve port 9. On the other hand, when the temperature in valve chamber 4 is lowered, bimetals 20 become flat and a valve rod 13 and valve body 12 are pushed upward by the coil spring 19, so that the valve port 9 is opened.
