Abstract
PURPOSE: To closely contact a sheet with a drum along the outer peripheral surface thereof by specifying the disposition of a clamping claw.
CONSTITUTION: A sheet clamper is disposed in a shallow groove formed to extend in an axial direction along a belt-formed portion of a drum frame 62 of a transfer drum 61. The sheet dlamper includes a plurality of clamping claws 64 disposed on a rotatable shaft 67, a continuous holding spring 65 for holding down the clamping claws 64 and the rotatable shaft 67 from above, and a holding plate 66 for fixing the holding spring 65 from above. By the construction, when the rotatable shaft 67 is rotated for a predetermined period of time by a cam action, the clamping claws 64 rock against the urging of the holding spring 65 whereupon an upper part 64a which is normally contacted with the outer peripheral surface of the drum is removed from the drum outer periphery. Thus, an end of a transfer sheet S enters, while advancing, between the thus opened upper and lower parts 64a, 64b whereafter the clamping claws 64 rock downwardly to clamp the end of the transfer sheet S between the drum outer periphery and the upper part 64a of the clamping claws. Accordingly, the transfer sheet S can be closely contacted with the drum outer periphery without swelling out therefrom.
