Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable accurate control of air-fuel ratio, by judging whether the air- fuel ratio is large or small and by effecting addition and subtraction in accordance with a set sampling signal to stabilize the air fuel ratio at a predetermined level.
CONSTITUTION: It is judged through an oxygen concentration detector 1 and an air fuel ratio discrimination circuit 2 whether the ratio of air to fuel is larger or smaller than a set level. Addition and subtraction are effected by a reversible ciunter 5 in accordance with a set sampling signal to stabilize the air-fuel ratio at a predetermined level. If the running condition of an engine goes as shown by a point P1, it is discriminated through the detector 1 and the circuit 2 that the fuel mixture is too thick. In that case, a discrimination signal indicating that the air-fuel ratio is smaller than the set level is generated. The reversilble counter 5 having stored the state up to the present is subtracted by the number of sampling signals which have entered into the counter 5 until the output discrimination signal of the circuit 2 is inverted. Since operation is repeated until the predetermined air-fuel ratio is reached.
