Abstract

PURPOSE:To sharply separate a fibrin and a globule from a serum by separating blood with the help of a centrifuge after placing a separation member of specific shape on the surface of slightly coagulated blood inside a test tube. CONSTITUTION:A separation member 5 (e.g. of spiral coil shape) with an extrusion downward having an opening which allows passage of a serum but not a fibrin, is slightly fitted for holding into a jutted-out peice formed on the inner surface of a lid 3 by the external circumference of the member. The afore-mentioned lid 3 is attached on a test tube 1 containing a blood 2 and the test tube is left alone for a brief period. When the blood 2 begins to slightly coagulate, the test tube is deposited inside a centrifuge and separation is begun. Then first the blood 2 begins to be separated under a centrifugal action and next the separation member 5 drops into the blood 2 disconnected from the jutted-out piece 4. At that time, a serum is allowed to pass upward through the opening 6 and a depositing fibrin, caught by the member, migrates downward together with a globule, thus allowing upward separation of a serum only.
