Abstract
PURPOSE:To adjust a shim current to an optimal value without unlocking of NMR lock by shifting a point of measurement toward each point on a straight line running through the lowest resolution point and a center point of gravity of pattern formed by point ''n'' excepting the said lowest resolution point while a resolution is monitored. CONSTITUTION:A detection signal generated on a reception coil for locking inside NMR probe 2 is detected by detection circuits 6, 7. An electric current on an excitation coil 9 of magnetic poles 1, 1' is controlled by means of ''u'' mode NMR signal obtained from the circuit 6 and ''v'' mode NMR signal (signal V corresponding to a resolution) obtained from the detection circuit 7 is transmitted to a computer 12. This computer 12 indicates an electric current value to be supplied to a shim coil 3; e.g. I1, I2 are supplied to the shim coil 3. The computer 12 selects optional three points P1-P3 on a plane I1-I2, sequentially running an electric current to the shim coil, reading out signals V1-V3 from the circuit 7 and comparing their magnitude. Then the computer discards the lowest point, searching for a new trial point and forming three points including the new trial point. Through repetition of this process, the point formation is focused at an apex V0, seeking the optimal point P0(I10, I20) so that a resolution may be maximized.
