Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an ignition device from performing wrong operation, by relating the position of a rotation signal detection means to that of the ignition coil of a distributor at such polarity that the change which the rotation signal detection means undergoes due to the leakage flux of the ignition coil promotes that in a normal output. CONSTITUTION:An ignition coil 4 mounted on the body of a distributor is placed so that the main axis of magnetic flux produced by energizing a primary winding extends nearly in parallel with a rotary shaft fitted with a signal rotor 1. A rotation signal generation means 2, which detects the change in magnetic flux due to the rotation of the signal rotor 1 to produce an output signal, is located at such polarity that the change which the means 2 undergoes due to the leakage flux (a) of the ignition coil 4 promotes that in an electric signal due to the rotation of the signal rotor. Namely, the means 2 is located in such a position that the direction C of the leakage flux (a) is coincident with that (A) of intersection of magnetic flux of a permanent magnet 22 with a coil 21. This results in eliminating the adverse effect of the leakage flux on an ignition device and providing an advantage as to the prevention of wrong operation due to incoming noises.
