Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove the formaldehyde in the waste water approximately complete by adding calcium cyanamide.
CONSTITUTION: The formaldehyde is removed by adding the calcium cyanamide to the industrial waste water containing the formaldehyde. The quantity of calcium cyanamide added is preferably twice or more as weight parts to the formaldehyde in the waste water, and the waste water is heated to 100°C from normal temperature and agitated. Thus, this method can efficiently remove formaldehyde without being subject to the effect of impurites, and a solid and a liquid are easily separated because reaction products have an excellent precipitating property. Facilities necessary for waste water disposal need no special ones, and are advantageous industrially.
