Abstract

PURPOSE: A cataplasm useful for remedying neuralgia, etc. preventing the quick drying of a drug caused by bodily temperature and sagging, surface tackiness, etc. resulting from the softening of the drug by moisture uptake., having improved skin releasability, adhesiveity in perspiration, etc., comprising a highly water-absorbing resin as a base material.
CONSTITUTION: A cataplasm comprising a resin [e.g., saponified starch-(meth) acrylonitrile graft copolymer, crosslinked polyethylene-oxide, starch-acrylamide graft derivative, etc.] capable of absorbing not less than 30 times, preferbably not less than 50 times as much water as its own weight as a base material. A resin comprising 30W50wt% water-soluble content is especially preferable as the resin, for its has perferably proper adhesivity for a cataplasm. Since the cataplasm has improved retention of an aqueous liquid, a drug will not dry in a short time. It also has good shape retention and maintains proper water retention, so it is released readily without leaving any adhesion residue. As it adsorbs perspiration, it has excellent effects, e.g., good adhesivity in perspiration, etc.
