Abstract
PURPOSE: To accurately and easily control the area to which a paint is sprayed, by on-off controlling a paint spray from a spray gun with the operation of a photosensitive element which receives reflection beams from a model having a shape corresponding to an article to be coated.
CONSTITUTION: As the advancement of a conveyer 1, the leading end of an article (a) to be coated reaches a position in front of a spray gun 68. At this time, the gun 68 starts a vertically travelling motion, and the first and second reversible pulse motors 86, 95 of control means actuates to horizontally carry a model 85 at a speed 1/n by the motion of the article (a) and to travel a vertically travelling member 9 at a speed 1/n by the motion of the gun 68. A luminous flux from a luminous element 93 is projected to the model 85, and the reflected beams are received by a photosensitive element 94. Thus, the photosensitive element 94 actuates. During the period of receiving the reflection beams, a paint is sprayed from the gun 68 onto the article (a). When the luminous flux does not hit the model 85, the element 94 stops its operation, and the gun 68 stops the spraying. When the rear end of the model 85 passes over the position in front of the element 94, and when the rear end of the article (a) passes over the position in front of the gun, the gun 68 and the travelling member 9 return to the respective original positions and stops their operations, and the motor 86 rotates reversally to return the model 85 to its original position.
